Gestalt therapy for individuals, couples and relationships

When inward tenderness finds the secret hurt, pain itself will crack the rock, and… Ah! let the soul emerge.

Rumi

Perhaps you’re struggling to connect with yourself and others, or experiencing life as an outsider; or maybe questioning your identity, meaning and purpose during a time of transition. It could be that you are carrying a heavy burden, and with no-one to share the load.

My name is Anne (she/her/they) and I’m a UKCP-registered gestalt psychotherapist. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I believe that healing and growth happens in the context of a supportive and authentic relationship between human beings. With tenderness and care, I will meet you in your deepest recesses and be alongside you, working at a pace and depth that is attuned for your needs. You are welcomed and affirmed exactly as you are.

Values-led therapy

A collaborative and conversational relationship is foundational in our work together. We might use creative or grounding practices when there are no words for what your mind-body-soul knows.

Client work and personal experiences give me affinity with: menopause and ageing | stress and burnout | low self esteem | relationship difficulties | feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns | overwhelm | life changes | complex trauma | sorrow and loss | identity and belonging | enhancing self understanding | distress about the climate emergency and the polycrisis.

The focus in relationship therapy is primarily interpersonal, such as challenges with communication | difference | clarifying wants and needs | navigating the beginnings and endings of relationships | change and transitions. For couples and polycules, sex and intimacy may well be part of your relational difficulties. If you need support around sexual function and behaviours, a psychosexual therapist may be recommended.

I am committed to inclusion and social justice, and sensitive to dynamics of difference, power, and privilege in therapy and how we experience safety. I am experienced in working within intersectional cultural, ethnic, gender, sexuality, and relationship identities and expressions, dis-abilities, ages, faiths and spiritual practices. I do not use labels or diagnoses unless you use them for yourself. I oppose conversion therapy.

Working together

I see clients daytime (before 5pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. At the moment, I have online availability only.

We start by meeting online for a free and no obligation 30-minute chat. It is a space to see how we relate and to discuss what brings you to therapy.

January 2026 – no space for new clients, but I do keep a small waiting list.

Individual clients

I offer brief and open-ended therapy, depending on what might support you best right now. I typically suggest 6-8 weekly sessions to begin with, to give us an idea of how it is to work together.

My fee for individual therapy is £50-£65 per 50-minute session, on a sliding scale (you choose what’s affordable, based on your financial circumstances), payable in advance of each session.

Couples and relationships

I support couples of all configurations. We meet for 6 sessions, with the possibility to continue, at a pace that supports your needs, such as weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. At the moment I am not working with polycules or adult family groups.

My fee for relationship therapy is £65-£80 (for two people) per 50-minute session, on a sliding scale (you choose what’s affordable, based on your financial circumstances), payable in advance of each session; or £375 for a block of 6 sessions if paid in full before the first session.

About me

Born and raised in England, I have a liminal, post-menopausal, and multi-heritage identity. Becoming a gestalt psychotherapist feels like a returning home – to my heart and soul’s purpose – after careers in IT services, sustainable development, organisational consultancy and leadership coaching, and academic research and postgraduate teaching. I have a PhD in Social Ethics and maintain an interest in relational process research.

I have been a certified executive coach and group facilitator since 2012, and am an affiliate member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) (no: 02117565). After four years clinical training, I am at the final stage of professional accreditation by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) (no: 2011186203). I abide by their code of ethics. I am currently completing College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) accredited specialised training in couple / relationship therapy.

I find nourishment in 5Rhythms Dance, Astaunga Yoga, live music, poetry, arts and culture, and the expansiveness of the Yorkshire, Northumbria, and Scottish coastlines.

I do not offer a crisis service. If you need immediate help, you can contact NHS 24 on 111, the Samaritans on 116 123, or text “SHOUT” to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line, if you are in distress and need to speak with someone urgently. Alternatively, your GP or local pharmacy may be able to direct you to other support in your area.
